What is a Hot Night?

The Hot Night is Caryn Carrrasco’s idea, our founder.  As a lifelong dancer in many styles, she wanted a place where people could just dance and focus on innovation rather than moves that are “officially” part of a particular dance.

What is Fusion?

What is Fusion? Fusion /ˈfyo͞oZHən/ Noun: The process or result of joining two or more things together to form a single entity. Is it relates to dance, fusion could most easily be summed up as follows: What happens when you take multiple dance influences and dance them to music that isn’t necessarily the “traditional” choice for those movements. Doing a Baleo in Blues Dance is fusion, an open position transition in Tango is Fusion.

For Beginning Dancers:

This is a great way to try more than one dance in a night and see what you like.  Find music that makes you want to dance.  Find a bridge from what you listen to, to the music that grew up with the dances.

Dance with people who are laid-back and not hung up on what dance you “should” do to music.  This is a chance to dance as you as possible and have a great time doing it.

For Advanced Dancers:

Come to Hot Night and stretch your dancing muscles.  Do Volcada with a Blues dancer, send a tango dancer into open.  Try a dance and music that is outside your same-old, same-old set of moves.  Then, when you feel it, pop back into your comfort zone and surprise the person you’re dancing with.  Hot Nights are a great way to bust that dance rut you’ve been getting into.
