At CMDance, we are dedicated to creating a space where everyone feels respected, supported, and valued. We recognize the pain and anger of communities of color and diverse gender identities, and we are committed to dismantling the systemic exclusion that has long plagued our country.
As a voice in the community and a provider of arts education, we understand our responsibility to seek out and empower artists and voices, especially within the art forms we teach—such as Blues, Latin, and Swing dances—which are deeply rooted in these communities. We are committed to building a world where people do not have to fear for their lives or livelihoods.

To fulfill this commitment, we pledge the following:
Curriculum Development: We will continue to retool our curriculum to amplify the crucial role that people and cultures have played in creating the art forms we teach.
Empowering Artists: We will actively seek out artists to teach our classes, develop our curriculum, and broaden the influence of peace, education, and culture in the worlds of dance and music. By doing so, we aim to eliminate exclusion based on race, culture, and ethnicity.
Ongoing Training: We are committed to providing ongoing training to equip our staff to identify and combat both interpersonal and structural racial inequity.
Our mission is to create healthy, thriving communities through world-class arts education. This mission includes and relies on people from all cultures. We will not stay silent while any lives are treated as having lesser significance.
