About our program

We reach over 10,000 students every year in schools throughout the Front Range, with an emphasis in the 7 counties of the Greater Denver area. Our programs employ dance to empower youth and gain the tools to express themselves, communicate with others, problem-solve through improvisational thinking, take artistic risks, and engage in interdisciplinary learning experiences with historical and cultural studies.

Accessibility and Trauma
Informed Practices:

All of our instructors who work with Early Childhood through High School students use trauma-informed practices in their curricula and teaching, and work with all types of students, regardless of disability; everyone can dance! We have a deafblind intervener specialist fluent in American Sign Language on staff to support students with vision loss and/or Deaf and hard of hearing. We have instructors trained to work with children and adults with special needs or limited mobility, and work closely with school partners and their resource staff to provide accommodations for students as necessary based off of their IEPs, etc., to give students the highest quality of dance education possible. We also have multiple staff that are bilingual in languages such as Spanish and French to reduce language barriers during instruction.

Year-Round Curriculum

Our team of Early Childhood Education instructors serves thousands of preschool-aged students every year with our robust, culturally diverse curriculum developed by our Program Coordinators and dance instructors. Our curriculum inspires movement and dance and is catered to Colorado Early Childhood Education benchmarks focused on developmental skills for kindergarten readiness. Our assessment tool, based on these standards, consistently demonstrates growth across all target developmental skills.

One-Time Workshops

CMDance will work with your school to send in instructors or the CMDance Performance team for your Family Night, Culture Night, or Art Day to fully immerse your students and families in a unique cultural experience related to one of our diverse dance style offerings.

Community Events

CMDance will send our dance instructors or the CMDance Performance Team to participate in your community event to demonstrate and teach your community about a variety of dances and cultures.

Guest artist program

Expert-led workshops

When CMDance hosts nationally-recognized arts events in Colorado, our programs make the incredible teaching talent available to students in your schools. Several times a year, we hire world-renowned guest instructors and musicians to teach workshops at our large weekend conferences, and our Program Coordinators will keep you informed when they are available to teach at your school during their stay! These guest instructor visits motivate students to reach new heights through unique educational opportunities.

Music and Dance Workshops Partnerships

In collaboration with the Evergreen Jazz Festival, the Colorado Blues Society, and other local community partners, we will provide professional musicians that take music into the schools, relating the music to the school’s curriculum in ways that can make a difference in how students learn. We can tailor presentations to the needs of the students in topics such as social studies, history, language arts, geography, math, and of course — music. We can combine music and dance workshops or organize them separately
