Maynard learned the Blues the hard way in the tough industrial town of Gary, Indiana. He has spent a lifetime immersing himself in the bitter-sweet sounds of Muddy Waters, Albert King, Lightning Hopkins, B.B. King, Buddy Guy, and a host of others too numerous to mention. Once Maynard warms to his work, he captures his audience’s rapt attention with an infectious blend of soulful vocals, punctuated with searing guitar licks.

His upbeat music has a contagious effect that gets even non-dancers up on their feet and onto the dance floor. Feeling good is the name of the game when it comes to the Maynard Mills Blues Band.

Joining Maynard on stage will be Lonnie Moon on saxophone, percussion and vocals, Jodie Woodward on bass, Ralph DeFermo on keys, and Tom Quinn on drums.

With a love of musical theatre and all things of the stage, Emory first embarked on their partner dance journey in 2012. Since then, they’ve taught, emceed, competed, organized, DJed, and performed (as a lead and follow) in Lindy Hop, Blues, Ballroom, Argentine Tango, West Coast Swing, and Fusion dance, all locally and many nationally. They are an influential member of the state-wide Colorado dance scene, working in multiple ongoing capacities with 17 different Colorado partner dance organizations since their arrival in 2016. In addition, they are professionally certified in 13 Ballroom dances through Fred Astaire Dance Studios, and are studying numerous other styles in addition to their ten years of Lindy Hop, Blues, and Fusion. With their breadth of experience, Emory understands the deeper underlying nuances of what makes partner dance feel great at its roots. Everyone deserves unbridled self-expression in the present moment, and Emory does all of this so any folk they encounter can look and feel great while clowning around, solo or partnered.
