We are Shimmy Shakin’ Blues– we hold a monthly blues dance party with live music from the best blues bands in Colorado. Come for good music, good dancing, and good people!
Our next blues dance party will be the first event of The Denver Jazz Festival 2026 with LIVE music from The Delta Sonics, Voted most times the “Best Blues Band in Denver“ by WestWord Magazine!

Schedule
Doors open at 6:30pm. There will be a beginner-friendly blues dance lesson from 7:00-8:00pm. A dance party with live music from the band and DJ'ed band breaks will follow from 8:00-12.
Admission:
$15- class only ($10 student discount with ID)
$20- dance only ($15 student discount with ID)
$35- class and dance ($25 student discount with ID)
The dance is indoors, NO RESTRICTIONS: vaccine and mask optional. Please stay home if you feel unwell! Be safe, have fun! ❤

Voted most times the “Best Blues Band in Denver“ by WestWord Magazine, The Delta Sonics opened for BB King (twice) Robert Cray (three times) and Jimmy Vaughn (twice) among many others. Al Chesis is a featured guest on Big Head Todd's album " Black Beehive."
The Sonics have won multiple awards through the Colorado Blues Society members' choice awards, including "Favorite Blues Band" and "Favorite Blues Duo" the most times of any band!They have been featured at many major festivals in Colorado and Wyoming, such as Taste of Colorado, Pearl St. Blues & Brews, the Greeley Blues Jam, Boulder Creek Fest, Parker Days, Denver BBQ Fest, Cheyenne Frontier Days, Cherry Creek Arts Fest, the Five Points Jazz Fest and many others. They also made the semi-finals in the Memphis (International Blues Challenge) in 2012.
The band has been the Mile Hi ‘go-to’ band for touring Blues national acts for 15 yrs. They have backed national blues acts like Big Bill Morganfield, Steadyrollin' Bob Margolin, Ronnie Baker Brooks, grammy -nominated Lurrie Bell, grammy -nominated John Primer and the late Pinetop Perkins, and the late Bo Diddley.

ABOUT THE VENUE:
This is a 21+ club, with a dress code of no baseball caps or flip flops. There are no outside beverage allowed in the venue, which includes a full bar and water bottles are sold for $2.
